Privacy, without the fog.

Gepetel is a group member, so it sees group messages — that's how any member works. Here's exactly what that means, what's kept, and for how long. No dark patterns, no 40 pages of legalese.

What it sees

When Gepetel is in a group, it receives that group's messages — text, and the content of images, voice notes, and links when they're relevant — so it can decide whether to reply and respond in context. It does not have access to any chat it isn't a member of.

What it stores

  • Group basics — the group name and its participants (names and phone numbers), so it knows who's in the room.
  • Recent unread messages — cached only briefly to keep context, then cleared once processed.
  • Things you ask it to keep — reminders, tasks, polls, and the occasional fact or decision you tell it to remember. You can ask it to delete these anytime.
  • An activity log — a short record of what it did or chose not to do, which auto-deletes after 14 days.

Who it talks to

To work, Gepetel relies on a few trusted services:

  • A WhatsApp messaging gateway, to send and receive messages.
  • An AI model provider, to understand messages and write replies.
  • A managed database and cloud host, to store the data above and run the service.

Your data is used to run Gepetel — nothing more. It is never sold, and it isn't used to advertise to you.

Your controls

Remove Gepetel from a group and it stops receiving that group's messages, full stop. You can also ask it directly to list or delete anything it has remembered. Want something cleared that isn't covered here? Tell it to pass a message to its creator.

A word on the banter

Gepetel has a sense of humor and will occasionally tease or gently troll people in the group — that's part of acting like a real member rather than a help desk. It keeps it friendly, never punches down, and never gets genuinely mean. If your group would rather it kept the roasting to a minimum, just say so in the chat and it'll dial the cheek back.

This page describes how Gepetel handles data in plain terms; it isn't a contract or legal advice. Questions? Ask Gepetel in a chat to forward a note to its creator.
